la Madeleine Participates in Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign 2012

SoS Promo Image 2 la Madeleine Participates in Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign 2012September is Dine Out for No Kid Hungry Month, making now the perfect time to learn about Share Our Strength. Share Our Strength’s national No Kid Hungry campaign launched in November 2008 with the goal of ending child hunger in America by 2015. This inspirational movement has affected everyone from community leaders to chefs to celebrities, including Jeff Bridges.

Share Our Strength faces an incredibly difficult task because 16 million children are at risk of hunger in America. That’s one out of every five children! This unacceptable ratio diminishes with each passing year, but the campaign’s efforts are all for naught without support from the community.

During September, an estimated 7,500 restaurants nationwide participate in Dine Out For No Kid Hungry, a fundraising event that takes place from September 16-22. More than half of participating restaurants extend their individual events to include more days in September.

La Madeleine Country French Café kicked off our No Kid Hungry program on September 5, and fundraising activities are taking place through September 22. This is la Madeleine’s second year to participate.  Last year’s program ran for one week and raised $10,392.  With the help of our generous guests, la Madeleine cafés have raised over $60,000 for No Kid Hungry in the first eight days this year’s program!  With another week to go, cafés are keeping up the momentum to raise even more for No Kid Hungry.
